Discipline Information

Cumbria Rugby Union has delegated authority to hold disciplinary hearings within the County.

The work of the Disciplinary Panel is governed by RFU Regulation 19. The full RFU Regulations can be accessed here:

Both the match referee and the relevant club must report a red card matter within 48 hours of the sending off to the CB disciplinary, and in the case of referees, a copy of the referee report may be sent to the referee society. Clubs must provide the full name of their player, his date of birth, RFU player registration number, telephone number and an email contact address

Clubs should respond promptly to any communications from the Discipline Secretary.

Clubs should ensure that the carded player sees the referees report.

Clubs are responsible for any invoice issued for administration costs.

It is a club internal matter if they wish their player to pay.

Under regulation 19.11.30 if the monies owing are not paid by the required date specified (within 14 days of invoice), the discipline panel may impose further sanctions for a breach of the order on a person, player or club (including, in relation to players, suspending the player from playing) until payment is made.

As a matter of course the committee has decided that, in the event of payment not being forthcoming by the due date, A PLAYER WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY SUSPENDED WITHOUT ANY FURTHER NOTICE, WITH THEIR ORIGINAL SUSPENSION EXTENDED until such time as the outstanding payment is paid. Further consequences may result.

Please note Discipline hearings will normally be held online via Zoom on a Thursday evening from 7.30 pm for 2025-26 season, please check your hearing correspondence for details and confirmation of date and time.
